Remove Black Mold For Better Air Quality & Health
Do you suffer from headaches and ongoing fatigue? Maybe you are sneezing or coughing or your throat, nose and eyes are irritated.
These problems could be caused by poor air quality, resulting from black mould spores.
Removing Black Mold
Black mold looks like dirt that has collected on a surface. As a result, it is not always easy to see the difference between black mold and
common dirt. Mold is often not even noticed in homes or buildings. Many people suffer from mold-induced symptoms without knowing what is causing
these problems.
Experienced R3 mold removal technicians can usually visually identify black mold. In many cases these inspections are free.
After identifying the mold, it's necessary to contain the area. This prevents cross contamination during removal. Negative air pressure chambers
are created, the mold is physically removed and air-scrubbing units are installed to eliminate remaining spores.
Serious Mold Contamination
Serious mold contamination results in major health problems and physical damage to property.
A few years ago, the owners of a large house, hired R3 to investigate an offensive smell in the building. About a month before the owners contacted us,
the basement had been flooded with sewage and suffered a great deal of damage. Nothing was done about this sewer backup until the foul odor and flies
became intolerable.
Because the damage had been ignored for so long, there was extensive mold contamination. The only available course of action was to remove and replace
the floor tiles and walls at great expense to the owner.
Mold develops within 24 Hours of structural elements being exposed to water. The longer floods are ignored, the more extensive the restoration process
and the greater the health risk.
This could have been prevented had the structure been professionally dried using commercial dehumidification units and high velocity air-movers.
Prevention Is Better & Cheaper Than The Cure
When flood damage is ignored, air quality decreases and health risks increase.
The longer this situation is allowed to continue, the more disruptive and costly it will be to resolve the problem and bring the property back to its
pre-flood condition.
As we continue to learn from experience, including the experience of the owners of the house affected by the sewage back up, when dealing with black mold,
prevention is better than the cure.
If you aren't sure whether you have mold or not, have it checked. If it turns out that you do, have it eliminated. Your good health is well worth it.
